This is not word for word, but close. pg.303/304 Portrait and Biographical Records of O.C. N.Y. Publ 1895 Capt. James Wood Benedict of Warwick was born in New Canaan, Conn. Jan. 30, 1830. and was the son of Jonathan B. and Fannie Benedict. the father was also a native of Canaan, Conn. About 1834 the family came to O.C. and located in Warwick where the father died in 1841 and the mother who was a native of Warwick died in 1880, at the age of 90. her family were among the pioneers of O.C. locating here as early as 1765. Captain James Benedict married Miss Harriet Durland on Feb. 28, 1866, she was the daughter of Thomas E. and Mary Ellen (Booth) Durland, natives of O.C. and descendants of the first white people of this section . Capt. James and Harriet had 6 children, Mary Ellen the second born, died in Missouri at the age of three years. those living are Fanny, Jessie A., Antoinette Bell, Hugh and Sarah, all at home with their father, the mother having died June 5, 1884.( they lived in Missouri for 8 years, and then returned to Warwick for 4 years , leaving for Ohio for 13 months, again returning to Warwick in 1881.) pg.773 Henry A. Benedict of Warwick, born on the farm in 1818. was the youngest child to James and Mary (Wheeler) Benedict, also a native of this town. James died in 1855 , his wife preceded him to the grave. Henry married Miss Laura Wright of O.C. in 1852. they had 10 children , James H. of O.C., John W. and Mary L. at home , Robert W. of NYC , Elizabeth T, Albert A. , Hattie E. , Phoebe A. , William S. and Abigail B. all of Warwick. at the writting of the book Mr. and Mrs. Benedict are 77 and 79 years of age and in fairly good health.
