Hello listers: I am new to the list and to working in this county in New York and I need some help. I found in a book called Early Settlers of NY State by Janet Wethy Foley in vol 2 on page 281 I listed a cemetery with a lot of CASH family in it. I would like to connect with anyone doing research on the name and find out just exactly Stewarttown Cemetery is located. I tried the USGS locator and had no luck. The person who did the transcribing is Miss Ethel Gage of Middletown NY so maybe it is close to Middletown??? Any help with this matter would be appreciated. Sincerely, Linda Coltrin Tucson, AZ

Linda, I am not connected to the CASH family but I have a book titled "Records of the Ridgebury Presbyterian Church with Inscriptions of Nearby Cemeteries and Other Genealogical Note" compiled by William J. Coulter about 1940 and much later published by the Orange County Genealogical Society. Stewartstown Cemetery is included. It only stated that it is south of Ridgebury. Ridgebury is in the Town of Wawayanda very close to Middletown as you guessed. Perhaps these are the same inscriptions in Foley's "Early Settlers of New York State" but here are the CASH family members recorded in this book: Phebe Millicent CASH wife of J.E.S. Gardner born June 4, 1815 died Aug. 26, 1875, aged 50 yrs. 2 mo. 21 ds. Hannah wife of Doct. Meritt H. CASH & dau of Hon. Joseph & Elizabeth Davis died Aug. 5, 1847 aged 26 yrs. 5 mo. 19 ds. Millicent wife of Ruben CASH who died Sept. 3, 1838 aged 63 yrs. 7 mo. 23 ds. (handwritten note nee Howell) Reuben CASH died June 6, 1828, 61 years Selah J. CASH died Oct. 18, 1833 aged 26 yrs. 1 mo. 7 ds. James M. CASH died Jan. 2, 1838, aged 28 yrs. 28 days. S.Y.R. CASH died May 29, 1836, ae 24 years, 9 days I have never been to the Stewarttown Cemetery and don't know if it still exits. I hope you track it down. Barbara
