    1. Civil War -- 26th Inf -- SEAMANS
    2. Gary James
    3. Hi! My name is Gary James and I am seeking any info I can find on a Hiram/Hirum B. Seamans/Seamons. It is said he was born abt. 1847 in NY. His granddaughter said during an interview that she thought he was from around Elmira, NY, that she thought he was a blacksmith in the Civil War and that he had a brother named William. --- I'm afraid that is about all we know about this man's early life. Apparently, somewhere between 1847 and 1878 he, and/or his family, migrated to Fayette Co., IA (maybe after the Civil War), as he married a Katherine Siglin on 18 Apr 1878 in Fayette Co., IA. I am currently in the process of exploring the the Civil War rosters for his name and have found one -- "3-30 Seaman Hiram M 32 b orange widower mechant. - 1865 hurley 26 reg mo. 9 19 61 sgt 2n and lst lt in 39 mon wounded" with the "26th REGIMENT INFANTRY.--("2nd ONEIDA REGIMENT.") Organized at Elmira, N.Y., and mustered in May 21, 1861. Does anyone on this list know anything about this person??? Thanks in advance for any assist. Gary James -- Oklahoma pentaby@alltel.net
