page 1486 Cornelius Macardell, president of the First National Bank of Middletown, Treasurer of the Middletown State Homeopathic Hospital, and proprietor of the Daily Argus and the Semi-Weekly Mercury, was born in Darein, Ga. October 24, 1836. he was the son of Cornelius Macardell, a native of Dublin Ireland, who, after having graduated from trinity College,came to America, and after a brief sojourn in N.Y.C. went to Ga., settling in Darien, where he published the Darien Telegraph and afterwards the Savannah Daily Telegraph. In 1841, he returned North, making his home in Brooklyn New York, and following journalistic work. He was a writer of marked ability, but his career was cut short by death in early manhood. the marriage of Cornelius Macardell,Sr. united him with REBECCA CAMPBELL, who was born in Ireland and who came to Orange County.
