My name is Betsi Westling, and I am helping my daughter-in-law try to locate her birth mother, her birthmother's last name was Lamonica, and we have reason to believe that she was from Orange County, NY. My daughter-in-law was born May 5, 1970, in Brooklyn, NY, possibly Kings County Hospital, her birthmother was sent to Brooklyn to stay with relatives until she delivered. The adoption took place at the Orange County Court House, on Oct 6, 1970, and Orange County Social Services handled it. Her birthmother was italian/lithuanian, 16 or 17 yrs old, and may have worked in a hospital, her birthfather was 20, italian, and was not told of the pregnancy, he may have gone into the service. We know that her last name was Lamonica, and that the birthmother named her "Melissa" at birth, we went to the New York Public Library to check the birth indexes, but we do not have a first name for the birthmother.
