only one listed under the spelling Beatty page 1507 in the bio of Cemmet Crawford skipping a few paragraphs C.E Crawford was born Dec.16, 1849 in Middletown and received his higher education in Wallkill Academy, afterward preparing himself for his commercial career by a course in Poughkeepsie. In 1870 he obtained a clerkship in a dry goods store in Middletown, and two years later brought out the old furniture store of Hiram Brink. A year or two later he purchased the long-established crockery house of I. O. Beatty and combined the two concerns, which had occupied adjoining buildings at no's 44 and 46 North Street.
