My brick wall is my gg grandfather, Levi Benton WOOD. He was supposedly born in Orange or Ontario Co, NY in 1810 or 1811. Family lore says that his mother was "one of the BENTON girls" named Mary or Thankful; that his father was Levi WOOD; and that Levi Benton was a 'woods colt." Also that Levi Benton was one of fourteen children. Levi B. was married 3 times that we know of--Isabella CRIST, Malinda GIRARD and Mary E. DOOLITTLE LYNCH. Does NY have a bastardry bond? Does anyone have any suggestions or can anyone please visit NY archives for a lookup? Any help at all will be greatly appreciated by my entire family, especially my 94-year-old father. Ruth
