Hi Ruth, I have a WOOD connection in my ancestry. Hannah WOOD married Benjamin SAWYER. Her father was Major John WOOD, who was well-known in the area as the only survivor of the battle of Minisink after it was attacked by Joseph Brandt and his Indian raiders. My page for Major WOOD is http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Fields/3076/JohnW.html. Its possible that Major WOOD was your Levi's father, since one of my sources indicated 2 additional sons for which I have no names, and the dates would be about right. Major WOOD was b. 1743, so Levi would have been b. around 1770-80 or so, which would fit with Levi's son being b. in early 1800s. Sorry I don't have more, but its a start. Of course, I'd be interested if you could find a connection. Steve Sawyer in AZ
