Paul emailed me asking me for info about Goshen and this is what I sent him. He thought it might be list-worthy. I also wanted to make sure I gave him the correct info. Does anyone have anything to add or correct? Thanks. <<The wills are located in Surrogate's Court which is across from the First Pres. Church. If you get off 17 exit for Goshen and follow signs to Goshen, you'll be on Main street (it looks like you're coming in through the back side of town but it quickly turns quaint). There is a 5 way intersection after about a 1/2 mile or so. The First Pres. Chruch should be on the right. Take a 90° right and then the next left onto Park Place. Surrogate's Court is the first building on the right. When you walk in the front door, there is a policeman on duty and directly across from him, on your right, is the kiosk with the index ledgers. They are by year and then alphabetical. Write down any numbers for the will you want and then follow the counter to the left and end. There is a little station there with current indexes and a basket with forms and pencils. You fill out the slips and then give them to the clerk behind the desk. She'll bring the actual volume or will out and then you can look at them, have them copied, etc. They were very nice in the office and helped me out a lot. BTW, on the other side of the church is the OCGS building, the yellow one with big white columns. If you were to walk down a block or two, on the same side of the street (not the direction you drove in but, the other way), you will come to the library. They also have a local history room (open business hours) and microfilm of local papers. In front of the church, kind of to the right and across the street, is the Courthouse annex. >>
