Hi Regina, Tom and other list members, I'm also interested in learning more about the "Drowned Lands". My G5 grandfather,Joseph Allison, purchased land in the Wayawanda Patent around 1720. In his will written in 1752 he refers to his property on the "Drowned Lands". Was all or just a portion of the Wayawanda Patent called the "Drowned Lands"? What is the title of the recent book on Wayawanda? Does it give info about the early Wayawanda settlers? Where can the book be purchased? Thank you. Mary Allison Yonan <I've been wanting to inquire about "Drowned Lands". Does this refer to <swampy areas that were drained, leaving the rich soil needed to grow onions? <When was this done? You can see below that they are referred to as drowned <lands in the 18th century - was that before they were drained, but the <people could see the potential in them? <Snipped> <Incidentally there is a recent book out on Wayawanda with lots of good info <and photos.
