    1. [NYORANGE] Re: Rachel Runyon m. Joel Dunn
    2. Dear Harman, Now you see to be plowing the fields that I am. I am looking for a Phineas Dunn who died in Orange Co. NY. His will dated 1788, abstract, Orange Co. Gen Soc, Vol II pg5, reads, "PHINIUS DUN of Goshen Liber A page 57 Will made Dec 26, 1788 Probated Jan 9, 1789 Wife Anna Dun Daughters Zeruiah Dun, Elizabeth Dun Executors Anna Dun and Moses Carpenter Witnesses Calvil Shepard and Ezra Doty" This will was written some approx. 15 years after the death of Moses Carpenter's first wife: ELIZABETH RUNYON, daughter of RICHARD RUNYON and JANE VAN COURT of Morris Co, NJ. Moses and Elizabeth (Runyon) Carpenter had purchased a property from Samuel O. Sayer of Morris Co. in 1774 and only after her death did Moses take out a mortgage on the property. He later sold it to James Sayer. I am also guessing that their is a Sayer/Runyon relationship here also, but know not what. I have never been able to place this Phinius Dun, although I feel certain that he must be closely related to that RUNYON/VAN COURT family. There were other Runyons, a Peter VanCourt (I believe), Littles, and Ayers in Orange Co., but so far, I have not been able to find the relationships. Some show her as the one sometimes called "Rachel, the Proud", born 17 Nov 1753, d. 21 July 1848 and as daughter of Peter Runyon, Jr. and Mary Dunn. Doris Horvath, in her booklet, however, shows her as a daughter of Benjamin Runyon and Anna Van Court. In any event, I am seeking to identify the parents of the Anna Dunn who married Jonathan Lenox on 17 June 1802. Harman Clark hclark@bypass.com >>
