    3. Dear Penny, The Concise History of OC, by Rev. A. E. Corning, originally printed as part of another book in 1946, this book was printed by Hope Farm Press in 1993, listed one possible place to start looking... not for Chamberlin or Kinnan/Canaan--but for Little. A paragraph on Pg 22 says there are still old houses in New Windsor* built before the American Revolution, most later quartered army officers. Stonefield was erected in 1745 by Rev. John Little, located north of the village of Salisbury Mills on the road starting at Little Britain* Church, running south to Washingtonville.* It goes on to say that it has been known as Moffat's Academy for a long time, named for a Dr. John Moffat, who married Little's daughter, served as pastor of Good Will Church*, and after retiring conducted a school in the upper rooms of the house. Later Dr. Moffat recorded that on Feb 15, 1779, DeWitt Clinton, (later Governor of NY), studied Latin at Moffat Academy. *(these places still exist and are all adjacent to Newburgh) Hope that gives you a lead to follow up. Good wishes, Gail > Subject: [NYORANGE] John CHAMBERLAIN/CHAMBERLIN b. abt 1758 > Date: Thu, 7 Sep 2000 23:16:43 -0500 > From: "Wm & Penny Kresl" <kresl@elknet.net> > To: NYORANGE-L@rootsweb.com > > Hi Group~ > > I am looking for ties to John CHAMBERLAIN or CHAMBERLIN b. 1758 probably in > Amenia, NY.
