I have been following this conversation on the Carpenter-Wheeler connection. I am very intrigued. I have Wheeler roots. My great grandmother was Nettie C. Wheeler. She is my dead end. I know very little about her, except that she was born in NY or NJ in 1861. She married Peter Vanderhoff (from Orange Co. NY) in 1877. Phoebe, I believe that there is a Wisner-Vanderhoff connection in Orange Co. although we have been unable to find a definite connection between your Vanderhoff and mine. Could these families all be interconnected??
