I have been going through the 1900 census for Newburgh. I have found an unusually large number of listings as "Partner" for relationship to head of household. It is not a wife nor husband. There are numerous listings identified this way as singular addresses. Does anyone know what this would mean? Marge mclark@eticomm.net
