A week or so ago I posted a request for a look up for my Great grandmother and SKS replied that there was no entry in the Whig Press Marriage Notices 1851-1865. Her name was Ellen White and she was born about 1835. She was "a staunch Catholic" all her life and on her children's baptisims her name was entered as Ellen White: (Helene) Orange County New York. I have very little knowledge of registrations of Births, Marriages and Deaths in the 1800's in New York State. Were births circa 1835 required to be registered or would the only records be baptismal records. If so are there any achives of the Roman Catholic church available to the public. Any information will be most gratefully received. Pat
