    3. In my search for unknown parents of JOHN FRANCE b abt 1760, d 1811.. A Will I located may be of a brother to my JOHN. The Will was of an apparently unmarried DANIEL FRANCE, of Shawangunk, County of Ulster, NY, who bequeaths his estate (from sale of his books and property "now in my possession") to his brother, REUBEN FRANCE 2/3 and remaining 1/3 to be equally divided among the rest of his brothers and sisters. (not named) He nominated his "beloved father, YOST and PETER A. MILLSPAUGH as Executors." Dated March 9, 1811. The witnesses were .... AARON BODINE and DANIEL P(S?)help. Coincidentally, My JOHN's grandson's wife, FANNIE ALDRICH REEVES's mother had been married first to Dr. ADAM WHITE MILLSPAUGH prior to marrying her biological father, CHARLES WOOD REEVES of Chester, ORANGE COUNTY, NY. Anyone familiar with any of these names? Jeanne

This is probably precisely why we've come to a dead end - did find it interesting however, when this morning, the above message shows up on the Rockland list. Intriguing...... Speaking of Carpenters - the Wiliam Carpenter that I found was a carpenter by trade. Was there a difference in a mason and a carpenter? My Smith grandfather's were all listed as mason's, but judging from the tools passed down to my own father, they were actually be carpenters as I know them. My grandpop Arthur Smith did alot of the carvings in the of the theatre's on Long Island (Roslyn area). I've got a photo of it, but can't think of the name of it off hand. Barb

    3. Hi Susan, I am looking at the book , Portrait and Biographical Record of orange County, NY. published 1895 pg. 139; Moses Sloan ( b. Aug. 22, 1855) began clerking for Alexander Leslie a grocer in Newburgh. pg.171; a boarding school for girls was moved in 1867 to the Leslie House where it remained for 16 years, in Newburgh. pg.709; March 1876 Mr. Traphagen entered the employment og ZT. Barrett & Son who engaged in a shoe business until Feb. 1880, he then purchased the stock of boots and shoes of John W. Magee, and conducted the business alone for three years at No. 25 Water street. In 1884 he entered into partnership with S. J. Leslie at the same stand, in the firm being known as ZTraphagen & Leslie. In July 1890, this connection was severed, our subject selling out his entire interest in the concern to Mr. Leslie. ----- Original Message ----- From: Susan Elliott <ovenbird14@yahoo.com> To: Joanne <sound1@qed.net> Sent: Friday, February 25, 2000 12:22 PM Subject: Re: Cemeteries > Joanne, > > Thank you very much for your offer.
