This was destroyed by fire February 27, 1891. An elegant new theatre was designed to replace it by Middletown architect James E. Mapes, and the new Casino Theatre was opened on the site of the old building February 15, 1892. Four years later it was purchased by William D. Stratton. In May 1903, the casino was closed for refurbishing, reopened as the Stratton Theatre in August. The theatre closed in the 1940's was purchased by the city of Middletown, and torn down in March 1953.

    3. Beverly, I am also a Brundage descendant but I'm sorry to say I don't have any information about Daniel Brundage. My ancester was John Brundage who settled in the Town of Minisink from Westchester Co. NY. You might try writing to the Orange County Genealogical Society, 101 Main Street, Goshen, NY 10924 to see if they have the cemetery records you need. Buttermilk Falls is located in the village of Highland Falls in the Town of Highlands. The Town of Highlands is referred to in local histories as "one of the younger towns of Orange County" formed about 1873. It is triangular shape south of Cornwall, the Hudson River is to its east, and bounded on the south by Rockland County. The village of Highland Falls is about 1 1/2 miles south of West Point. It is situated on Bog Meadow Brook, one of several small streams that flow into the Hudson River. Buttermilk Falls was named for a "pretty cataract" because it resembled buttermilk as it tumbled over rocks and was admired by tourists in the area. A post office was established called "Buttermilk Falls" in 1849. About 1830, the First Presbyterian Society formed 2 churches, one near Buttermilk Falls and the other in Fort Montgomery. The First Methodist Church was established about the same time in 1831 at Fort Montgomery. The Church of the Holy Innocents (Episcopal) was formed at Highland Falls in 1850. The Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart was built in 1875. Barbara

    3. Margaret Here's some more info on Morgan, if you don't have it. In the 1800 census in Township of Minisink there is Andrew Kimber, also John, Joseph, George, Nathanial, Peter, Samuel and William. Some of these could be Andrew's brothers (or father). In 1850 there are Andrew, 2 Abigails, Peter and George. By that time Andrew would be about 70 years old so some of the others could be his children. 3. Hi Beverly, About Buttermilk Falls: I found a Buttermilk Falls Realty in Highland Falls, which is just south of West Point. It must be a local reference, so check churches in Highland Falls. Don't know about the Cemetery of Highlands, Central Valley. It's not in any of the OCGS publications. I have an Isaac Taylor who married Elizabeth Drake c1700s. Elizabeth also married Jeremiah Fowler b.1673 d.Dec. 1723. I don't know much about him, just his name. Is he the same one? My Daniel Brundage and Issac T Taylor line have burials in the Cemetary of Highlands, Central Valley. Is there a on-line record of this cemetary or a good source.? I'm in Minnesota, trying to learn Orange Co geography. Also in the 1820's our Nathaniel Gregory line speaks of Buttermilk Falls, just south of West Point, but I cannot find it on the map. 1. Morgans in Orange County

    3. I don't have much on the Morgan side. My Gr Grandmother was Charlotte L Morgan, her father was Gideon B Morgan, mother was Mary Atkinson. They lived on Bingham Road in Marlboro, Ulster County. This is a 'stone's throw' into Ulster from Orange County, Town of Newburgh. The 1855 NY census has Gideon born in Sullivan County. He was born in 1825 died in 1891. Mary Atkinson was born in Orange County abt 1825 also. These dates would probably eliminate connection to your Sarah in 1859. There are other Morgans on Orange County that are likely older families. 2. To Bill Staples I read you reply to the Brundage query and noticed that you had connections to MORGAN. My gr-gr-gr-grandmother was Sarah Morgan, born about 1783 purportedly in Orange Co. She married Andrew Kimber, around 1799. Would you know anything about her? Also could you share the MORGAN names that you have that might be her parents? Thank you, Margaret McManus

    3. Hi, It is a simple thing to make a note on files as you add them where you got the information. I simply do a NOTE in caps that the information for this line came from - whoever. It helps me too because sometimes when I discover a glitch I can correct dicrepencies and actually find proofs (although I must admit I really only consistently "prove" my direct lines, proof for corrollorary lines is there only if it falls into my lap) This also helps anyone I send the info off to as they can see right away who to contact if they are on a direct line that I only coincidentally share. You may find it difficult to believe but I simply can't remember who gave me what otherwise.
