COX and/or Franklyn P. COX, Middletown, NY If someone has access to obituaries for the Middletown, NY paper or papers, could someone send me copies of the obits for: Former Mayor Rosslyn M. COX who died in Middletown 28 March 1940. Also his wife, Elizabeth COX though I have no DOD for her. Rosslyn is buried in Hillside Cemetery. Franklyn P. COX, died in Middletown, 27 August 1950. He apparently never married. Is also buried in Hillside Cemetery. Both of the above were sons of Martin Bross COX who died in 1912 in Vernon and is buried in Vernon M E Church Cemetery beside his second wife, Mary Catherine (WINANS) COX. Mother of the above was Sophia (PENNY) COX. She died prior to 1891, I believe. I assume that she is also buried in Hillside Cemetery. I would like an obit concerning her if someone can find it. Sorry that I don't have a DOD for her. Appreciate any and all help. Thank you. Mona Bross Hylton, Richmond, IN

    1. Carrie Doty Taylor 1874
    2. I have hit a brick wall researching my grandfather James Forbes Taylor's(1849-1902) family. So I am reposting my research interest using the middle names of James Forbes Taylor's children. One of his children was named Carrie DOTY Taylor(1874-1919). I am hoping this middle name might be a family name of a branch of the family tree. I know that the Taylor family lived in Pond Eddy, New York; Minisink, New York and Port Jervis New York. I am wondering if Abner DOTY born about 1820 in Minisink, Orange, New York might be the family member that caused Carrie to have the middle name DOTY. Could anyone possibly have some information about the descendents of Abner DOTY? James Forbes Taylor married Melissa Carpenter. The Carpenter family was also from Orange County. I would appreciate a hand up the family tree. Thanks, Jim Taylor of Warren, Ohio

    3. The Middletown Daily Times Feb. 19, 1896 A Very Attractive Sight will long be remembered as one of the happiest Society events ever held in this city- Middletown's social season of 1895-96 came to a brillent end Tuesday night the last day before the Lenten season which begins to-day with Ash Wednesday. The occasion was a leap year hop at the Casino, given by the young society ladies of this city to the young bachelor gentlemen who have been so gallant during the season just closed. No expence or pains had been spared by the young ladies interested to make the affair a brillant one, and suffice to say their efforts were rewarded by one of the finest society events that have ever occurred in this city; indeed , no social occasion in this city ever seemed to be possessed of the same spirit of happiness as was noticed. The young ladies performed their duties for the leap year occasion in a very creditable fashion and quite as graceful as any of the boys have ever been noted to do as suchevents. The decorations were furnished by Firnhaber and consisted of tropical plants arranged at the footlights of the stage. The music was furnished by Prof. Roescher's orchestra of four pieces. Following is a list of the young ladies present and the gentlemen they escorted: Miss Lou Sloat and Mr. Russell Wiggins "Fannie Rowland and " Charles A.Adams Nellie Billings Royce & Sam Farnum ( of Paterson) Katherine Iseman & Phillip Eilsworth (Bayonue, NJ) Christine Iseman & S.C.
