    2. Carol, I can give you two or three generations of the ancestry of the Abraham Bennett you were asking about. I've not been able to find much on Jerusha Wanzer. My line comes from a probable brother of Abraham, Nathaniel. He apparently was a bigamist and left a son Daniel to be raised by his brother Abraham. I can't document this absolutely so have a weak link in my ancestry. Let me know if you would like this information and especially if you have anything on Nathaniel or his son Daniel who was raised by Abraham. Iris Grimmett irisg@proaxis.com

    3. Thanks so very much, Howard, for the lookups. That "c. 1742" marriage date is the first--and only--one I've seen for Isaak & Annetjen [BOGARDUS] DECKER. Yes, Levi was the son of Peter and Maria [HOFFMAN] DECKER, and, as you say, the sixth generation. Again, thanks for going to the trouble to dig out this info--very nice of you to do so. 3. Hi Julie, At 11:59 PM 6/26/00 -0400, Julie C Hesson wrote: >Does anyone have Jean Worden's book of the records of Shawangunk RDC? >I need two marriages and a baptism looked up: > >Isaak DECKER & Anneken BOGARDUS, marriage: > >Peter DECKER & Maria HOFFMAN, marriage: > >Levi DECKER, born 08 Jul 1788, baptized: > >I believe they all took place in Shawangunk RDC, but not 100% certain of >it. Hurley/New Hurley are also possibilities. Some of these people are shown in the book by William Bogardus, Dear "Cousin": A Charted Genealogy of the Descendants of Anneke Jans Bogardus (1605-1663) to the 5th Generation. For the marriage of Isaak DECKER & Annetjen BOGARDUS he has only "c. 1742". So he was apparently unable to find a record. He shows that both they and their kids were bap. at Kingston, so I would guess Isaak and Annetjen were married nearby. For the marriage of Peter DECKER & Maria HOFFMAN (Peter the son of Isaac and Maria above) he shows they were married 30 Jun 1772 at the Reformed Protestant Dutch Chruch of Shawangunk. All the kids of Isaac and Maria, though bap. at Kingston, married at Shawangunk. So, maybe the family moved from one place to the other. The last bap. at Kingston was Jacob in 1756. The first married at Shawangunk was Tjaadje in 1766. He doesn't show Levi. If he was the son of Peter and Maria, then that is the 6th generation, which is not shown. I think Shawangunk is in Ulster Co, so might want to also ask in an Ulster Co. forum. Regards, Howard hswain@ix.netcom.com

    3. Hi Mona, It is poring raining today, so I am not sure if I will get the pictures today? but I have been looking at the info that I have here, and found The Wig Press Aug.21, 1893 Cox: Aug. 19th on Mill Street of Membraineous Croup Edith P. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin B. Cox age 10 years 6 months. Interment in family plot in Hillside Cemetery Portrait and Biographical Record of Orange County Publ.1895 page1332 Virgil Cox, Vice-President of the New York & New Jersey Roller Coaster Company, of Middletown, was born near Deckertown, Sussex County, N.J., in January, 1863. The first of the family to come to America was his Grandfather , George Cox, a native of England, who emigrated to this country and, setting in Orange County, becoming propietor of the Salisbury Mills. These our subject's, George W.., was born and reared. In youth he learned the carpenter's trade, and became a contractor and builder in the vicinity of Deckertown and Port Jervic. He finally came to Middletown, where his closing years were spent and where his dealth occurred. His wife, Mary A. was born in Sussex County, as was also her father, Amos Mead, but the latter removed from there to Motrose, Pa. where he died. The subject of this sketch is the second among four children, His brothers and sister being William H., General Manager and Secretary of the Roller Coaster Company; Frank, who is in the employ of the Times at Middletown; and Carrie, Mrs. John Dreher, of Hornellsville, N.Y. Virgil was reared in the vicinity of Deckerstown, N.J., where he received a puplic-school education. In 1880 he came to Middletown as an apprentice to the carpenter's trade under Lemon & Madden, with whom he remained about two years. Afterward for a year he was with Mead & Talf at Cornwall, . Next he went to Orange, N.J. where he worked at his trade, gradually turning his attention to contracting and building. He was employed in that way both in Orange and Easr Orange, N.J. In the fall of 1893, he came back to Middletown, where he has since engaged in building. He has erected two residences on Prince Street and sold to other parties, and also erected the residence he now occupies on Spring Street, being also the owner of the three adjoining lots. In the summer of 1894, Mr. Cox and his brother secured the necessary lease from the traction company and erected the Roller Coaster building at Mid-way Park. When the enterprise was almost completed, they formed a company, which was incorporated as New York & New Jersey Roller Coaster Company, our subject being Vice-President, and his brother Secretary and General Manager. The scheme has proven a successful one, and will undoubtedly be remunerative to the propietors. The building is arranged so that there is an elevation of one hundred and twenty- five feet and an incline of four hundred feet, the coaster being three-fourths of a mile in length. It has provben one of the greatest attractions of the park, and as a business venture is a success. In his political belief Mr. Cox is a republican, but has never taken an active part in public affairs, preferring to give his business matters his entire attention. pg 1434 under Edward McNiff skipping a few paragraphs Mr. McNiff was married in Mountain Dale, N.Y. to Miss Henrietta Cox, who was bornin that place, and who was the daughter of Mitchell Cox, a tanner by trade. pg. 1492 under J.P. Mandigo skipping Our subjects mother, who bore the maiden name of Jane Cox, was born in Northern Ireland, and came to America when she was a young lady. She was a member of the Episcopal Church in the faith of which she died in 1885. pg. 1270 underMilton C. Conner, M.D. skipping The marriage of Dr. Conner took place in this city and united him with Frances Adelaide Cox, who was born in Bloomingburgh, N.Y. being the daughter of the late George Cox, formerly an attorney of Middletown. pg. 1025 under Benjamin F. VanFleet skipping The only son of Mr. & Mrs. VanFleet is Harry L. general manager for the Preston Fertilzer Co.; and their only daughter is Mary L. wife of William Cox, who is a merchant of Circleville. pg.985 under Joseph P. VanNess skipping In the town of Minisink, this county, near the village of Westtown, Joseph P. VanNess was born Feb.16,1840 he was four of nine children, skipping to Alice married James Cox, of Middletown. pg 964 under Isaac H. Livingston skipping Mr. & Mrs. Livingston are the parents of four children, Franklin, whose home is in Chemung,N.Y.; Smith H. and Annie, who are with their parents and Jennie wife of Josiah Cox, of Middletown. pg 788 under Lewis Potter skipping The Family of Mr.&Mrs. Potter consisted of five children, namely; Millie Ann who married Thomas Cox and is now deceased; Sarah Jane, who died in infancy; Jane, wife of George an Tassell; Catherine, who passed away in infancy; and Mary Emma, wife of Fred Holman ( Mr. Potter was the owner of the "Natural bridge" farm in the town of Highland, born in Ft.
