Hi listers, It seems that my original message was put on the wrong list. I have been told that Chili is a suburb of Rochester, NY which is in Monroe County, NY. I have put the message on the Monroe County list. A big THANK YOU to all of those who have helped. Regards, Ray Turner Email: rturner@xtra.co.nz Website: http://mysite.xtra.co.nz/~RayTurner/
Hi listers, Would someone kindly look up a newspaper in the Monroe area for the death of Mabel Bregmen who died on 16 March 1994 according to the Social Security Death Index. The address given is 14624 North Chili, Monroe, New York. Mabel Light was born in Somerset, England and married Seddon Bregmen in Kent, England. Two daughters were born in New Zealand the 1920s. I have their given names and birthdates. They went to New York when they were young. I do not know their married names. Any information would be appreciated. Regards, Ray Turner Email: rturner@xtra.co.nz Website: http://mysite.xtra.co.nz/~RayTurner/
The primary newspaper for Monroe is the Times Herald Record. They have a website at www.th-record.com. Their mailing address is: The Times Herald Record, 40 Mulberry Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Lisa Stitt

Hi Robin, I have no knowledge of your Webbs and would not presume to second guess your conclusions. I looked at the Digital CD and Jonathan and Jonathan Jr are listed right next to each other, which is a good indication of family connection. The one male under 16 in each family, one could be very young and one a teenager. The 4 females in Jr's family could be wife, mother-in-law, servant and/or young child or even borders. Lacking the ages of these people, it is hard to say if the numbers of people are reasonable for a father and son. I have ancestors in this time frame who went thru three wives and 8 children over a span 50 years, so anything is possible even if not probable. The Ulster/Orange County folks did some strange things. My gr gr grandmother died, her husband re-married, he died, his second wife re-married, she died and her husband married her step daughter. Talk about confusion. These Digital CD's are really great. The entire 1790 NY State is on one CD and you are looking at the actual written document. Hello OC Researchers: I received today the 1790 NY State Census book from OCGS. (For $27 it's a great deal!) For the first time, I now have Ulster and Orange counties and NYC & Queens (and elsewhere) available in one place. One of the first listings I looked for was Jonathan Webb in Walkill (Ulster County at that time). To my surprise, I found TWO Jonathan Webbs in Walkill in 1790; one is listed as "Jonathan Webb" and ther other as "Jonathan Webb Jr", but BOTH had minors in the household so it would seem unlikely the Jr was son of the non-Jr. Moreover, the 1801 will of Jonathan Webb cited in EWOC makes no mention of a Jr. Does anyone here have knowledge of two Jonathan Webbs? Robin
My name is Dena and I am looking for family of my grandparents Arthur and Juanita Murray. My grandfather use to be manager of the used car dept. at the Buicks Broadway Garage in Newburgh. John Jenkins married Jacomyntje Van Duersen in New York, lived in Paranus, Bergen County, New Jersey until the Revolutionary War. Moved to New York City until 1794, when they moved to Orange County, New York, where they lived the rest of their lives. Their son James Jenkins married Hannah Van Gelder in the Reformed Protestant Dutch Church in New York City in 1784. There six children were born there. James went to New Jersey and enlisted in the New Jersey Continental Line and remained with them until the end of the Revolutionary War. If these family names are familiar to anyone on this list I would sure like to talk to you. Hello, Everyone. I am new to this list. Don't want to tell you the whole long story, but a month ago I decided that I would dedicate a year to researching the surname VanAmburg and all spellings a variations of the name........I am doing this in lieu f information about my grandfather who eludes me. I know that I am in the heart of Dutch country and surely there are some folks on this list who have some VanAmberg, VanAmburg, VanAmburgh or some other spelling of the name linked to them in some way. Would anyone be interested in sharing what they have on this name with me? Thanks so much. Sincerely, Rose Matthews Potter County,PA

I have several families and am looking for a simple way to name and identify each photo. I give each photo the first three letters of the surname, two letters of the given name, and a numeral for sequencing. Example: My gg-grandfather, Cornelius Sammons DECKER: DEC-Co1 DEC-Co2 His wife, Jane Elizabeth ASHBY: ASH-Ja1 ASH-Ja2, etc. His photos are in C-line acid-free photo-pocket pages in my DECKER documentation pages. Hers are stored the same way, in the ASHBY pages. Negatives are in negative sleeve pages in my safe deposit box, with identifying labels on the outside of the plastic. One of these days, I'll figure out how to burn the bitmap files onto a CD, and will put it into the safe deposit box, also, as well as sharing duplicates with relatives. Below are inscriptions from a single Tombstone #122 in Newburgh, Orange Co., NY of 6 of the 14 children of Samuel Purdy b. Feb 21, 1750/1 Yorktown, Westchester Co., NY and Charlotte Flewwelling b. Oct 7, 1770 Newburgh, Ulster Co., NY. The tombstone was photographed by Jose Rivera Nieves and posted on the OC Web page. I took it into MS PhotoDraw and enhanced it so I could read the inscriptions accurately, then transcibed them here. If you want to look at the picture, go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyorange/tombstone_221.htm > Esther Purdy born Oct. 6, 1805 died Nov. 10, 1882 > Henry Purdy born Feb. 22, 1788 died Oct. 21, 1860 > Abigail Purdy born Feb. 14, 1790 died Sep. 13 1870 > Elizabeth Purdy born Jan. 26, 1791 died Nov. 11, 1857 > Mary Purdy born Feb. 19, 1794 died Aug. 20, 1855 > Martha Purdy born Jan. 27, 1808 died Aug. 4, 1867

Hello OC: Mary CARPENTER, a daughter of my 4th great grandfather in Goshen and then Minisink, married a PEIRCE sometime before 1811 (and probably no earlier than 1800). A second daughter, Abigail CARPENTER, was married first to Benjamin VAN CLEFT who died in 1906, with children Moriah Amelia, Gabriel, and Oliver VAN CLEFT. She subsequently married a YOUNG (also before 1811). Any information or leads as to these PEIRCE, YOUNG and VAN CLEFT families would be very greatly appreciated. Robin C.

Hi List, Is anyone researching FULLER in Orange County? I'm researching the family of Azariel Charles FULLER. Born in CT, he moved to Middletown, Orange Co., NY in 1864. He married Adaline Sweet at the Presbyterian Church in Middletown in 1867. He had 5 children, one of which was my gr-grandfather, Charles Fuller, and his siblings: Henry Fuller, Granville Fuller, Matilda Fuller, and Julia Antoinette Fuller. In particular, I'm looking for a marriage in Goshen in Dec. 1890 of one of these Fullers... And Granville and Henry's children.... And cousins... Thanks, Linda Burkell
