Anyone have any connection to the POINTS surname in Orange Co NY? If anyone can look in any sources that are not available on the website I would very much appreciate it. All the best, Christiana
Hi there, Thanks for even opening up this message. I am trying to find someone who can look for a marriage record from 1790 - 1800 between a John POINTS and a Malinda ? I actually think it occurered in 1800, but I could be wrong. I am curious about any POINTS families in the county too. Thanks, CHristiana

Dear Orange Co. Researchers; Does anyone have information on the following: 1. Nathaniel Wheeler 2. Christian, Jacob, and Sally Morris (who was their father) 3. I have noticed lately several people have offered to do look ups if they have access to pertinant records. I have tried without any success to locate my GGrandmother I have very few facts, mostly gleaned from her children's baptismal records and her death certificate. The children were baptised in the Roman Catholic Church and her name was recorded as Ellen White:(Helene) Orange County N.Y. She died in 1899, aged 64. Her eldest child was born in 1863/64 Her husband Dennis Murphy pre-empted land here in B.C. in 1862, whether that was before or after they married is not known but one family story has them marrying in N.Y. State. I hope someone can find her, maybe 1840 or 1850 census. Pat
Does anyone on the list know where I can purchase this book? Sorry, I don't have a publication date. Thanks. Joan Pioneer Families of Orange County, New York. Compiled by Martha & Bill Reamy.
Would anyone by chance have the name Francis Beatty in Newburgh? Said to have been born in 1759 to a Robert Beatty and a Mary(?). There are a few Roberts in the Orange Co. area. Francis was in the Ulster Co. Militia, 2nd Reg. Bounty Land Rights. I have yet to find a pension on Francis, even though his will states he is to get monies fron the State of New York The Robert who was Francis' father , has a will in Newburgh, Ulster Co. dated 1776, proven in 1778. If I could find out how old this Robert was when he died, I might have found him buried in Little Britain Cemetary under Robert Beaty. Finding Francis' father seems to be my brick wall Some of you have sent me info already, for which I am very greatful. Thanks, Sarah Beattie BEATY/BEATTY/CLINTON/HALL in Orange County

Looking for any clues to the family of Phoebe whose last name may have been HOLLY. Phoebe, b. abt 1749-1757 in Orange Co NY, m. George WHITMAN b. 1753 d. bef 1793 in Goshen Twp, Orange Co. After George's death, Phoebe and (all?) of her children moved to Greenbrier Co. VA. I believe all the children born in Orange Co. The children, with approximate birth dates, are: 1. William WHITMAN 1779 2. Julia WHITMAN 1781 3. Ann WHITMAN 1783 4. George WHITMAN 1785 5. Holly WHITMAN 1789 (male) 6. Phoebe WHITMAN b. 1791 There is maybe an Andrew WHITMAN b. 1787 Phoebe may have had a brother Isaac HOLLY who also went to Greenbrier. Thank you for any clues you may have to this family. Brenda
Honesdale is across the Delaware River, in Pennsylvania. A line due west from Port Jervis would reach Scranton, PA; it's the path of Interstate 84 - Honesdale is a ways north of this line, a little more than halfway towards Scranton, which is the nearest city. Nevertheless, because of the NW to SE direction the Delaware River flows, Honesdale is probably only about 15 miles from the river. Any of you that have reference books regarding the early history of Orange County, is there any information concerning Philip McCONNELL? He died in 1818 in Warwick and left a will in which some nine children are named. He was one of the subscribers to help pay the cost of the building of the Amity Presbyterian Church (Amity, Orange Co.) in 1796. He was also voted and certified and legally elected and chosen as a Trustee for the congregation, 21 April 1797. He was my 5th great grandfather. I have no name for his wife. She must have already been deceased when his will was written. If anyone can help me learn more about this person, and his family, it will be much appreciated. Philip McCONNELL's daughter, Elizabeth McCONNELL married William CRABTREE. >From then on down the line, I have information but nothing above Elizabeth except her siblings names and her father's name and will. Elizabeth was born in Orange Co., NY in 1787/88. She died 8 April 1875 in Sussex Co., NJ. Thanks for any help. Mona in IN
