    3. Rachel SMITH, Woodbury Clove, Orange Co., N.Y.; b. 1760, Highland Mills to Francis SMITH (or) possibly ..?.. GILMORE, m. (1) Jonathan MILLER, (2) James RUMSEY; d. 1820 Shawangunk, Ulster Co., N.Y. Did Francis Smith marry a second wife named Gilmore? If so, what is Gilmore's first name, her parents, where born, died? Were there other siblings by the second wife? Francis' first wife was Elizabeth SMITH. There is questionnable research as to whether Rachel's mother was Gilmore or Smith; there is two years difference between daughter Elizabeth (Jr.), the older of the two, and daughter Rachel. Any help would be appreciated. Jeannette

    1. Moses Decker and Margaret Cuddeback
    2. Jake Jakoubek
    3. The MVRDC records show, on p. 278, the marriage of Moses Decker and Margaret Cuddeback on 2 August 1795 at Minisink-Machachemeck Church. Does anyone have any idea on who this Margaret is? She is not found in Gumaer's History of Deerpark nor W.L. Cuddeback's Caudebec in America. The marriage date suggests she was born between 1775 and 1780. That would likely make her a fourth generation Cuddeback. The data I have, from a questionable source, has a daughter Mary Decker born in Penfield, Monroe Co., NY. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, - Jake Robert R "Jake" Jakoubek of Huntsville, AL www.jakoubek.org and www.cuddebackfamily.org [email protected] and [email protected]

    1. Samuel Givens
    2. Patricia Givens Warner-Woolschlager
    3. I'm seeking any and all information that I can find regarding Samuel Givens and his parents, siblings, wife and children.. According to the U.S. National Archives & Records Administration - Military Service Records - Samuel Givens was a Private in 5 New York Regiment - Captain Philip D. Bevier's Co. of Foot, in Regiment commanded by Col. Lewis Duboys. He enlisted on Feb. 25, 1777 for a period of 3 years. On Oct. 6, 1777, he was listed as Pris'r or dead. I have a photocopy of a book "Ulster County, N.Y. Probate Records in the Office of the Surrogate, and in the County Clerk's Office at Kingston, N.Y. Volume 1 It lists the following: GIVENS, SAMUEL, late a Private in Col. Dubois Reg., deceased intestate. Adm. granted, July 16, 1788, to Joseph Givens, of Montgomery, labourer, a son of said Samuel Givens. -- Adm. bond, L200, by said Joseph, Alexander McCoy, same place, Innkeeper, and Justus Banks, of Shawangunk, merchant. 3. Still looking for Wilmot Clark, b 11 Oct 1797, NY.. m. Mary E. (Polly) Van AUKEN.. He shows up in Sullivan Co., NY in the 1850 census and beyond and I have a strong suspecion that he is the one in the 1830 census in Orange Co., NY... Wilmot seems to be a popular given name in Orange Co., NY, in many families, and I'm wondering if there is a person named Wilmot who was important in the 1775 to 1800 time frame.. Are there any Orange Co., NY researchers who can help me connect my ancestor Wilmot Clark to his parents? From Joe [email protected] Clearing House... 3. I accidentally stumbled across a 1999 obituary in the Middletown Times Herald Record and from there have been able to maneuver through the rest of the year. For Jan 1 through Jan 7, use this url structure (be sure to modify date): http://www.th-record.com/obits/1999/01/01.htm Jan 8 through Dec 31: http://www.recordonline.com/obits/1999/01/08.html If the url doesn't work with the html parameter, try changing it to htm. Their directory structure frequently varies, sometimes from one day to the next. I'd be happy to do an online lookup for you if you run into problems trying to locate the obituary you are looking for. I haven't been able to find THR obituaries earlier than Jan 1, 1999. There is an online index at Thrall Library you can check, which covers a few years in the early to mid-1980's, searchable by name: http://thrall.org/obitdb/search.htm Good luck with your searching.
