Since I can't ask for all McKinney's I'll pare it to two: Timothy McKinney born about 1786 Ichabod McKinney boarn about 1789 To the question about Demarests who don't show on either Orange or Ulster census index until 1800 I answer that my McKinney/Demarest connections are later (that I know of) but are in/from Bergen Co, NJ. I would check in minisink - Sussex Co NJ. The 3 States PA NY NJ families were back & forth normally. But Bergen County NJ is where I'd focus. ____________________________________________________________________________________ No need to miss a message. Get email on-the-go with Yahoo! Hi Judy, I have old xerox copies of papers from Wash DC re. John Wisner the first was addressed to Mrs. Edith E.L. Lawrence "The Woodward" Connecticut Ave. Wash DC dated Aug 23, 1013 : Rev War Section....the request stated that ...John Wisner of Orange Co. MY ....claim R. File No. 11,744..alleged that John Wisner served as Capt of company of min men under Col Hathorn in NY troops, no date give, and was in the batttle of White Plains...further stated the he first married ------ Thompson...who died in 1788 and married second at Warwick, NY 3/1/1789 Sarah Hall; ..widow died Feb 24, 1842, leaving children Asa, Eliza w of Abram Miller, Henry Wisner and Robert L. Wisner.......on Sept 4, 1851 their son, Henry Wisner, a resident of Warwic, NY filed a application for pension which have been due his deceased mother, but same was not allowed for the reason that the claimant failed to furnish satisfactory proof tthat his father performed six months actual service as required by law. Then another response addressed to Mrs. H. C. Voes Rt 4 Albany Oregon, Oct. 7, 1936 which has a little additional information..gives birth and deaths of John and Sarah John b Nov 13, 1792 d April 25, 1795 Fammy b Mar 16, 1794 d Oct 19, year not given John b Sept 29, 1795 d. Sept 2, 1796 Clarissa b Sept 2, 1797 d prior to 1851 Asa b March 10, 1799 Eliza b Jne 15, 1801 and in 1851 the wife of Abraham Miller Henry b July 1806 d Mar 1811 Robert L b March 2, 1811 --------------------- Other useful information in this application states further that the application stated he was in the battle of Morrisannia, and that in 1853 one Jeffrey Wisner aged 82, son of Col. Henry Wasner was residing in Warwick, NY and testified that Capt John Wisner came to the home of Col Henry Wisner during the war to relive their fears about an expected attack from the Tories, but he did not state his relationship to him. In 1853, one JAMES WOOD aged 74 years and a resident of Warwick, NY stated that Capt JOHN WISNER'S first wife was a half sister of his (Wood's) father, whose given name he did not state. In 1852 one WILLIAM H. CLARK, aged 60 years and resident of Warwicch.. stated that he was an "own cousin" of SARAH WISNER. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------ These casual comments helped to identify the 2nd husband John Wisner's first wife as Mary Thompson, dau of James Thompson and Marah McDowell; Mary married 2nd Daniel Wood. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------- In a message dated 3/23/2007 9:58:38 A.M. Thanks Judy, I don't believe I see my Mary Bloom Huff anywhere. I don't know the name of the M.E. Church. Dear Jackie, This is wonderful for you to offer to this. I am looking for Robert McKune. The dates for the record of deaths is too late, but maybe he is registered as a member. Or maybe he married a 2nd time. He is my brick wall. His sons robert and joseph were born c 1760-62. This Robert died on a prison ship Rev War. The McKune name might be spelled a var ious of ways. McCune, McKuen, McQueen, McKewan, McCuen, McEwan, McEwen. The older the records the less stable the spelling. Hope you have luck and thank you again for checking. Hi Frank, I couldn't find a marriage for Joseph Sayre and Rachel Dickers... or anything on your Dicker's family for that matter, but - good news - 1st wife Louisa (Thompson) is listed in the Record of Deaths. Apparently she died in 1838. "Sep. 10, Louisa Sayre, wife of Joseph Sayre, 32, Consumption" She is also listed in Register of Members, "1833, May 5th, Louisa, wife of Joseph Sayre" and, same date, Register of Baptisms "Louisa, wife of Joseph Sayre" (Adult). In Record of Deaths 1833, I found "Jany 3 Frances Amelia, daughter of Joseph Sayre, 2 1/2, Croup" There are 2 earlier Joseph Sayre's in the Register of Baptisms... "Joseph Sayre, son of Joseph Sayre & Mary Monnell Born Novr 3, 1776 Baptized May 4, 1777. ... and this "Thomas, Son of Joseph Sayre born Novr. 10, 1773 Baptized Jany 16, 1774. Hope this helps :-) Jackie
Phoebe-- Could you give a rundown on your James Thompson family and the families that were connected to it? I'm sure you've sent it to me before, but I would really appreciate an update. I'm still looking for a Thompson, possibly James, who may have had a family in Dutchess County in the mid- to late-1700s. Thanks! I wonder if it is spelled Bird? We have an Or Co Wisner/Carpenter/Runyon - MA/NY Leland/Melvin/Brooks descendent, several generations down that has Bird (Harry Bird Melvin) as a middle name and we know not why. There are Birds in NJ. Phoebe in CA ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
