Phoebe, Any chance that you might have Drakes in your group of Carpenters, Vails and Thompsons? I have a Francis Drake b. ca 1801 married to a Carpenter. Thompsons seem to be associated with this line as cousins. Susan in Tornado Alley
Hi folks, Not sure if the following got through to the list this morning, so sending it again. Sorry if you're seeing this twice. Jackie ----------------------------------------- Good morning all, I'm going to try finishing up those look-up requests I've already received sometime today. Any that come in from today on may have to wait awhile... but I will get to them eventually. :-) Thanks for your patience and, hopefully, I have helped at least a few people in their search for information on their ancestors. In my research which has been extensive in that area, there are five Samuels in the Warwick area alone, so I know what you are saying about these Smiths. I am receiving duplicate messages. I should be subscribed as: [email protected] I should NOT be subscribed as: [email protected] One is an older form of address and I cannot unsubscribe from it because it is not valid now. Can you help resolve the duplication of messages?? If the duplicate subscription is not the problem, then I don't know what is. Thank you Noelle Van Pulis

K Powell ~ So glad that at least one of your McKinney's turned up in the records. That is quite a story 'bout Matthew. :-) Did you know that you can get to the records of BOTH churches you mentioned by going to the IGI on http://familysearch.org and typing in the surname you are looking for - in your case McKINNEY - and the Batch Numbers... along with Region (North America), Country (usa) and State (NY). The Associated Reformed Preby. Church, Graham, Orange, NY has Marriages 1797-1860; Batch: M506931 and Baptisms 1797-1857, Batch: C506931. Graham and United Presby. Church in Pine Bush, Orange Co. has Marriages 1797-1860; Batch: M507091; Baptisms 1794-1857, Batch: C507091. Lots of McKinney's listed... altho most seem to be repeats - listed in BOTH churches. Wonder how that could've happened? Strange... Will look into those Demarest's you mentioned. That could take awhile as mine are a little earlier but I'll bet we'll hook up somewhere down the line. :-) Jackie

I need to contact someone who posted a query to the usgenweb site in Orange County. She was searching for information about a Chambers (female) who married a Hopkins. If anyone has any information about this person, would you please let me know or any information about the Chambers family in southern Ulster or Orange counties at the time of the rev. war. Thank you. Carol Church

I knew about Matthew of Pine Bush, he was quite the character. He died in Goshen jail over a sentence that goes back in court records to the Revolution. He was [publicly, before witnesses] insulted by an officer and in response assaulted the officer. He was fined. He refused to his dying day to pay that fine in US Dollars that was assessed in British Pounds. He appealed to the courts that he had a farm, wife & 3 children that needed him. They must have worked out some sort of work-release program because he had 13 children when he died. I know this sounds romanticized but it's what I found. The details are even more amusing. I sure would like to know what became of his sword. Darn, I wonder now what church to look for others in. Wait, I already know but not how to access more records. These are 2 of Matthew's kids: familysearch.org: BENONI MC KINNEY Birth: 23 DEC 1794 Christening: 30 NOV 1799 Graham And United Presbyterian / Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church, Graham, Orange, New York Mother: EAITS MC KINNEY [= Elsie; Elsje Weller, Matthew's wife] (and) ELSY MC KINNEY Birth: 23 DEC 1794 Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church, Graham, Orange, New York Mother: EAITS MC KINNEY A great-grandson of Matthew, Augustus McKINNEY b 1846 married Catherine DEMAREST b 1849, dau of James C DEMAREST b 1827 Bergen Co NJ [John C DEMAREST & Charity JAGGER] & Jane Brinkerhoff DOREMUS.
