I am hoping to go to Onondaga County right after Christmas -- assuming weather, etc., cooperate. I will be driving across country. I would greatly appreciate any help that can be provided about where to go to find possible records. In particular, my ancestor, Philo Goodrich was born in 1812 -- I believe his father was Giles Goodrich Jr., and I have his mother's name only as Modena? I know that Giles lived in Manlius and have found a reference to his selling land there in 1810, in an internet history of Manlius. He married for what must have been a second time in 1814 in Orange County -- but none of the records there mention Philo. Giles Goodrich (probably Sr.) is shown in Cicero in the 1810 and I believe 1820 census. I cannot find a record for the death of Giles Goodrich Sr. or his wife, Hannah, in that area -- but thought perhaps he raised Philo. Can someone help me determine where to go to look for birth/baptism records for 1812 in Onondaga County? I believe they might have been Methodists, or possibly Presbyterian. Philo married and is buried in Genesee County (Elba), but I have not found an obituary or other records at this point. I hope to go there as well. I suppose I should go there first? I am tracking this from "both ends" of the line in hopes of making the connection our family records indicate exists -- but I can find no proof.
