My gtgrandfather died in 1896 in Syracuse NY as was the custom then viewing was done in the home, did they send the bodies to a funeral home to be embalmed and where could/would I find the names of these "places" I have his death certificate but it does not show the town that he was born in just the country. He was born in Bavaria immigrated and lived in Syracuse NY the rest of his life, he lived on the North Side, his obit reads only when he died and who the minister was and the cemetery.
