The Fabius Historical Society Presents Monday at 7:00PM October 6th, 2003 Please note the time 7:00pm instead of the normal 7:30PM At the Fabius Community Center The SailCats - Eclectic Acoustic Music The SailCats - a duo of Mark Boudreau and Bill Fahy features the music of the Mandolin and Acoustic Guitar. The Duo performs a wide range of music spanning well over 100 years of musical selections. The duo got together to explore traditional music on the mandolin, but expanded it's offerings to include some folk, celtic, jazz, and rock as well as numerous traditional songs and tunes. Mark "Conrad" Boudreau is an accomplished solo musician who has over 20 years of performing experience throughout the USA at coffehouses, festivals, and clubs. Bill Fahy is a current member of one of Central NY's finest Old Time Bands, The Tired Hands String Band and has been performing in Central NY for over 5 years at venues such as the Kirkland Arts Center. Their combined talents and varied musical perspective give the Sail Cats a truly unique sound. Collectors of vintage instruments as well, together Mark and Bill currently have one of upstate NY's finest collection of vintage Gibson Instruments. This museum quality collection and the stories that accompany it permeates Americana at its best; moreover the tonal qualities of these nearly 100 year old instruments is extraordinary. Steeped in tradition, but open to newer compositions, the SailCats blend the best of the old and new (sometimes in the same piece). Reminiscent of the "Brother Duo's" of the 30's and 40's, the Sail Cats feature driving instrumentals played on vintage instruments from the period, blended with tight vocal harmonies.
