I have compiled a list of microfilms for New York, Onondaga - Naturalization and citizenship. As you can see, there are several places to look for your ancestor who MIGHT have made his declaration of intention and/or sworn allegiance and gained U.S. citizenship in Onondaga County. I also have used a 2-volume unpublished typescript which is in the Onondaga County Public Libary: Immigration and Naturalization Records, Onondaga County, New York: 1802 - 1859, abstracted by Mrs. Jean D. Worden, 1978. This handy reference provides the Name, Date of Declaration of Intention, Date of Sworn Allegiance to U.S., County from which owes Allegiance and Character Witnesses. Thanks to a response to a previous question, I have been able to determine the parents of Mary Shea (1872-1905). In looking at census records I found that there is a likely uncle (John born about 1857-1861) and grandfather (Timothy Shea born about 1820) living in Lysander. I would like to attempt to reference their obituaries, but I cannot find the dates of death of these and her father Jerimiah/Jerry (born Jan 1845). I searched all of the on-line cemetery listings on USGenWeb without success. Does anyone have a reference that covers cemeteries not detailed there (or any other source that would help).
