Denise, I'm not sure that a search of the newspapers would help you. Those items aren't published without permission of the parents (at least from what I can remember when my son was born in 1987). If the child was given up for adoption from the moment of birth, then I seriously doubt there would have been ANYTHING in the paper. But I could be wrong. The Syracuse paper isn't online earlier than 1986 from what I can remember of the catalog at Syracuse University, so it would have to be a search of the paper itself. And the best place to accomplish that would be at the Onondaga County Public Library's main branch in the Galleries. My son was born in October of 1987, but the blurb about his birth that appeared in the paper was almost a month later. So IF an item did appear in the newspaper, it would probably require a manual search of multiple issues of the paper since the announcement could have showed up any day for several months after birth.
