    3. Hello Lists, I am trying to confirm information that I have found regarding George ASHPOLE and his family. George (b. 1800 in England, d. 1875) and his wife, Susan ADAMS (b. 1803 in England, d. 1851 or after 1855), arrived from Huntingdonshire, England in 1829. Along with them was a son William (b. 1826 in England, d. 1907) and a daughter Catherine (b. 1828 in England). They first settled in Auburn, Cayuga County. George was in the 1830 census for Auburn (There was enumerated 1 male under 5, 1 male between 20 & 30, 1 female under 5, and 1 female between 20 & 30.) George and Susan had the following children in New York: 1) a son, George R. ASHPOLE, born 4 December 1830 in Cayuga County. He married Mary D. "Polly" DeWITT about 1855. Mary is the daughter of Jacob C. and Mary DeWITT. George R. died 14 December 1862 and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Skaneateles, Onondaga County. They had 4 daughters, Mary A. and Josephine in 1856, Imogene in 1857, and Georgie Ellen in 1860. Josephine died in 1856 and Georgie Ellen died in 1861. They are buried in Lakeview Cemetery. Mary A. married Henry ABERCROMBY in 1877 (Marriage listed in the 12 July 1877 edition of the Skaneateles Democrat.) and Imogene married Edgar HAIGHT about 1878. 2) a daughter, Susan A. ASHPOLE, born in 1837 in Cayuga County. I believe Susan married George WICKHAM in 1862, but I have not yet found a marriage record for them. There is a Susan, wife of George WICKHAM, that fits in the 1870 census. 3) a daughter, Sarah N. ASHPOLE, born 29 December 1839 in Cayuga County. Sarah died on 8 September 1840 and is buried in North Street Cemetery, Auburn, Cayuga County. 4) a daughter, Mary E. ASHPOLE, born about 1842 in Onondaga County. I have no information on her after the 1860 census with her parents in Niles, Cayuga County. I have found that all ASHPOLE's in New York are related to two families from England; 1) George and Susan, and 2) Thomas and Esther EDWARDS (They immigrated in 1832). If anyone has information on the above families, I would be very pleased to receive it. I also have additional information that I would share. Loretta Welsh Boring, Oregon USA
