The 1930 Census in Syracuse lists Lillian HARDMAN, 38, as head of house, married at 21. Note she is listed as "married" not "widowed". In the same household are her sons, Charles, 18; Albert, 17; and Earl, 15, and her mother Catherine HINMAN, age 64, widowed. In both the 1920 and 1930 Censuses, Lillian's father's birthplace is listed as Connecticut. ---- Bill
Thanks Bill for your help. I'm trying to make sense of about 200 postcards from all over. Of course nobody used the proper names of anyone so it's a mess sorting them all out. I see that Julia and Albert seem to have had a "shotgun wedding" as baby Charles was born abt Jan of 1912 with a wedding July 31 1911! He must have been a very big preemie! Julia Hinman-Hammond died abt Jan 1912 from what I can tell now. I don't know now who died abt April 30 1912 and was buried May 8 1912 in Oak Wood Cem.. Myra?? Mr. Hinman?? somebody else?? ARRRGH! The Hinmans and Hardmans moved in together in 1912 as I have that on a postcard. G--Uncle Albert seems to have become very close to Lillian as they signed cards as a "couple" within months and "Albert Jr". shows up within a year later. . . Lorne was another g-uncle and Nathaniel was my G-grandfather. |I knew they were in the U.S. about that time but I didn't have addresses.
