Hi everyone, It was brought to my attention recently, that we (the ones who use the services of the Onondaga County Public Library - OCPL), need to make it known that we would like them to add additional resources. Here are my two suggestions, for right now..... #1 Heritage Quest Online (They have numerous Census that are indexed that Ancestry.com does not yet have indexed, and they have a number of different books that can be searched from all over the world. Some libraries allow patrons to access this at home.) #2 Newsbank Obituaries and Death Notices (You can search and locate Obits & Death notices for all over the United States. The dates vary for each of the newspapers in their collection, but its still a great reference tool. I have found numerous obits from all over when I had access to it. Again, some libraries allow for the Remote Access too.) Here's what you can do to help. Write a personal letter, I was told a petition wouldn't be very effective. It might help to mention how helpful the 5th Floor Local History Room employees and collection have helped you in your Genealogy pursuits, and how you anticipate they can be of greater help if the OCPL will consider adding new resources.
