    3. what statewide index are you referring too? thanks -Original Message- From: Michelle Stone [mailto:[email protected]] Sunday, March 14 2004 7:16 AM To: [email protected] re: Lookup please: NY Marriage index 1883 Hi, Listers, If anyone will be able to check a lookup for a 1883 marriage in the statewide index for me, I certainly would appreciate it. I am trying to verify the fact that the marriage took place and where it happened. I know the names of the bride, groom, and their parents, and have already taken the chance on paying the fee for a Syracuse marriage certificate search--but they must've gone out of town to have the marriage. They are not direct ancestors and I don't really need a certificate, just confirmation of the event and where. Michelle Stone Marietta, Georgia (USA)

    3. This index as described on the New York State Library's genealogy webpages: <<http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/genealogy/vitrec.htm>> "Indexes to the Vital Records of New York State (except New York City) Microfiche copies of the Indexes to the vital records that are currently available to the public contain the following information: name, place, date, and certificate number. The Indexes are currently available upstate only at the New York State Archives, 3rd Floor, Cultural Education Center, Empire State Plaza, Albany, NY 12230, 518-474-8955; and Rochester Public Library, 115 South Avenue, Rochester, NY 14604, 716-428-8440. Indexes at the State Archives in Albany can be used from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The Department of Health's Bureau of Vital Records no longer provides access to the microfiche Indexes by appointment. The National Archives and Records Administration's Northeast Region office in New York City (201 Varick Street, New York, NY 10014-4811, 212-401-1620) also has the Indexes." I believe I had heard that the Onondaga County Public Library now also has a set of the microfiche index? --Michelle Lauren Rowe wrote: > what statewide index are you referring too? > thanks > > -Original Message- From: Michelle Stone [mailto:[email protected]] Sunday, > March 14 2004 7:16 AM > To: [email protected] re: Lookup please: NY Marriage index 1883 > Hi, Listers, > If anyone will be able to check a lookup for a 1883 marriage in the > statewide index for me, I certainly would appreciate it.
