    1. [NYONONDA] Albany research
    2. Hi All, In a few weeks I am hoping to be in Albany for a day of research, and want to make the best use of my time. My main emphasis will be on state censuses. Where do I find them in Albany? Time permitting, what else might I find there? Naturalization petitions from around 1860? Early immigration records from the 1700s? Vitals that I can get other ways I won't be doing. For those of you familiar with Albany research, suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance, Annie in San Jose, CA ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

    3. Most local history and genealogy material are on the 7th floor. The archives are on the 11th floor. Census data, city directories, old phone books are on the 7th floor. The library has a wide collection of old newspapers on microfilm. The list of the newspapers can be found here http://srv36.nysed.gov/nysnp/. They are great for looking up obituaries. Publications from the various counties can be found on the shelves. Indices to births, deaths and marriages, civil and revolutionary war documents are on the 11th floor. Some naturalizations can be found here, but most will be at the individual county. ----- Original Message ----- From: ABryant999@aol.com To: nyononda@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, September 14, 2007 2:58 PM Subject: [NYONONDA] Albany research Hi All, In a few weeks I am hoping to be in Albany for a day of research, and want to make the best use of my time.
