I knew a Hirsh family who lived in the rural area just across the border from Lysander in the 40's. I have some data on them, Maunder (Monk) Hirsh and wife Helen which I will send if you're interested. ----- Original Message ----- From: nyononda-request@rootsweb.com<mailto:nyononda-request@rootsweb.com> To: nyononda@rootsweb.com<mailto:nyononda@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 09, 2007 1:01 AM Subject: NYONONDA Digest, Vol 2, Issue 80 Today's Topics: 1. I remember it was a trade paperback and an easy read. Not sure where my copy is but I do remember it was written by a very nice young lady whose family came from there. I do not know if or where it might still be available, but I would start with the Solvay library. A quick Google search showed the exact title to be Smokestacks Allegro: The Story of Solvay, a Remarkable Industrial/Immigrant Village 1880-1920 and the author to be a Rita M. Cominolli (Now an M.D.) who has apparently gone on to have quite a stellar career. IF anyone is interested, my search indicated she might be reached through the following web page: http://www.cgwebdesigngroup.com/CGAboutUs.shtm<http://www.cgwebdesigngroup.com/CGAboutUs.shtm> Hope this helps someone, Jim Eagan > ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Sun, 8 Apr 2007 09:15:21 -0700 (PDT) From: SHAWN CAHILL <shawncahill@sbcglobal.net<mailto:shawncahill@sbcglobal.net>> Subject: [NYONONDA] upcoming genealogy class To: nyononda@rootsweb.com<mailto:nyononda@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <385965.19684.qm@web81109.mail.mud.yahoo.com<mailto:385965.19684.qm@web81109.mail.mud.yahoo.com>> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Hello. My great grandfather brothers started the coal company back in the late 1890 ( my great grandfather John Bernard Kelley had something to do with the barge canal). Cotters family has a Kelley in it also Margaret Lauretta married a Edward Francis Kelley, and they had three children names are Helen Genevieve , Mary Teresa. John Edward (I just started working on this part of the family) I know the Cotters are from Baldwinville ------------------------------ Message: 6 Date: Sun, 8 Apr 2007 21:26:37 EDT From: KSum555@aol.com<mailto:KSum555@aol.com> Subject: Re: [NYONONDA] Kelley Family To: nyononda@rootsweb.com<mailto:nyononda@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <d0a.cf990ba.334af04d@aol.com<mailto:d0a.cf990ba.334af04d@aol.com>> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Thank you very much for this information. I think this solvay plant is where his son < my grandfather was medically claimed incurrably terminal from breathing Ammomia. At last resort on Drs advice He was taken back to the Lumber camps to live in the woods and breathe the pine resin that my grandma would stew up , and sleep on pine needles and was cured a yr or so later. Thank you from the bottom of my heart if nothing else it helps fill in pieces. Thank you ......
