I am trying to take my Abbe/Abbey line back to John Abbe in the 1600s. The Colonial Dames 17th Century, a lineage society, has no problem with all of the generation links proving a father-son connection except for William Abbey being the son of William Abbey. The following has been proven about the Abbeys: William Abbey, Sr. b. 14 Apr 1758, Mansfield, Tolland, CT d. 6 Aug 1833, Hall's Corners, Onondaga Co., NY m. 5 Jun 1777, Mansfield, CT Lydia Hall b. 9 Sept 1757, Mansfield, CT d. after 1844, place unknown Children: Charlotte , m. ____ Davis Elijah (1779- bef 1851), m. Betsy Masters William (1789-1856), m. Abigail (Nabby) Farnham Nathan A. ( 1787 - ) David (1792-1878), m. Phoebe Travis Isabel (1798 - ), m ______ North Lydia (1800 - ), m. ______ Curtis possible female, m. _______Carlisle William Abbey, Jr. b. 4 Mar 1786, CT d. 22 June 1856, Onondaga Co., NY m. about 1810, prob. Onondaga Co., NY Abigail Farnham(Varnum) b. 2 Aug 1793, CT d. 14 Jul 1864, Onondaga Co., NY Children: William S. (abt 1810- ), m. Margaret _____ Electa (about 1815 - bef 1856), m. Elijah Pinckney Joseph F. ( 1812-1880), m. Rebecca Mead The book by Abbe, Cleveland & Josephine Genung Nichols, Abbe-Abbey Geneology in Memory of John Abbey and His Descendants, has not been acceptable due to its lack of documentation. The census records before 1850 do not show the names of people in a household except for the head. The birth date of William, Jr. was calculated from South Onondaga cemetery records. I have not found a will for William, Sr. I have not found any land records that might tie the 2 Williams together. The only problem is proving that William, Jr. is the son of William Sr. Can anyone help with this. Thank you in advance. Sandy Fahrnbruch, a descendant of the Pinckneys and Abbeys of Onondaga Co., NY
