Dear Rick: I am sorry I did not give you information about Jonas P(erry) ELLIS. I thought the book had an index. Jonas P(erry) ELLIS was born August 31, 1808, in Milford, Otsego Co., NY, to Christopher ELLIS and Wealthy (Perry) ELLIS. He married Huldah BOWEN on October 23, 1831 in Laurens, Otsego Co., NY. Jonas and Wealthy moved to Onondaga Co. at some time before 1840. Jonas and Huldah had two children, Harriet born April 29, 1836, and James, born July 20, 1838. James died at 16 years of age. In the 1840 Federal U.S. Census, Jonas and his family were living in Manlius. I have a paragraph from Early Settlers and Development in the Town of Manlius in which his participation in the fire company is mentioned. In 1847 Jonas Ellis owned 39 acres in Lot 9, which borders the Town of Manlius. The farm was valued at $850, and Jonas owned $200 in personal items. In the 1850 Federal U.S. Census, Jonas and his family were living in Pompey, but Jonas was not in Pompey in the 1852 Assessors Book.. I have Jonas's will. He died April 5, 1856, and was buried in the Manlius Village Cemetery. Huldah was listed in the 1880 U.S. Federal Census in the household of Henry JONES in Syracuse, NY. She died February 10, 1882, and was buried in the same cemetery as Jonas. Harriet, Jonas's and Wealthy's daughter, married Hamilton STONE. I do not have their marriage date. Hamilton was born January 15, 1830, in New York State, probably in Onondaga Co., NY. Hamilton, Harriet and their daughter, Hattie Ella, moved to Ovid, Clinton Co., MI, sometime between the 1860 and 1870 U.S. Federal Censuses. Hamilton was a carpenter and became a lumberman in Michigan. According to the Federal censuses, both of Hamilton's parents were born in New York State. I have not been able to find them.
