I know he did fight in the Civil War because I have a letter from his step brother talking about George W. Johnson fighting in the Civil War. I know he was born in Constantia, NY on Aug 11, 1839 and died in Syracuse, NY on Feb 24, 1870. I have his will, a small obit that mentions nothing; a person who was doing some work for me can't find his tombstone in the Oakwood cemetery in Syracuse, NY, although I have the coordinates where it is supposed to be. Thanks for any help you may be able to give me. 3. Liz: Here's what I found: Name: George W. Johnson State Filed: New York Widow: Emma S. Johnson 152 NY Infantry There is a letter before 152, it looks like a G. But, I can't tell for sure. There are two dates of filing, the first is 20 Feb 1878 and the second is 20 October 1920. I will send you an image of the card in a separate email. 3. It's funny that you would pick that guy out. I picked him out as the one a while ago, and it was not him. So now I have a Civil War Pension on someone it wasn't. Take care, and thanks a lot. I appreciate the help.
