Maybe it has been given before, but if so I missed it. Thank you. Nancy (Persis4@aol.com) Searching for : BESSEY& MOON families. >> The address for the Onondaga Public Library: Local History and Genealogy Department 447 South Salina Street Syracuse, New York 13202-2494 Telephone: 315-435-1800 TDD: 315-435-1872 Fax: 315-435-8533 The librarians are no longer able to do research for you at the library (budget cuts have reduced the number of librarians tremendously), but they may be able to recommend someone who can do research for you. If you are fortunate enough to be able to visit the Local History and Genealogy Department in person, be sure to fill out cards for the Researchers' File (I took mine home, filled them out at my leisure with all my Onondaga County surnames, pasted a reduced photocopy of an outline descendancy report on the back of each card which included all of the vital record-type info that I knew, and mailed them back a few months later.) Through those cards, I have made contact with one of my cousins and have been contacted by others. There is an Onondaga Historical Society down the street from the library with additional resources -- but I was so busy between the library and the County Vital Records that I never had a chance to go there. Have any of you had any experience with the Historical Society? Hope this helps, Diane
