    3. Hello, All, Does anyone know anything about the "sulters" or "seulters"? They were people who followed the military and sold supplies to them....? I was told that my MILLER family, (orig. England, Canada, Clinton County, and then the Syracuse area), were Sulters. They arrived in Onondaga County around 1814, which coincides with the battle of Plattsburgh. I believe the father's name was Charles, Thomas, John or Eleazer MILLER. The family also farmed and were coopers. There are lots of MILLERs buried in the "Town of Onondaga Cemetery", which I found recently, but I don't know if they are my relatives. My 3rd grt grndfather, Marquis D. MILLER, lived in Onondaga County until he was approximately 25 years old. I still haven't found his name anywhere in any records....so, I'm not even positive of the city, but someone out there may know about "sulters" and have seen this unusual first name somewhere. After he settled in Fulton County, IL, he went by M.D. MILLER or sometimes Marcus MILLER. I have documented information dating from 1837 until he died in 1889. But almost nothing on the years spent in Onondaga County. (I do know that he worked as a raftsman on the Erie Canal as a teenager). Thanks for any help that you can offer......Regards, Judy Goodwin Winter Park, FL
