    3. Thank You Rick for your Response. By nature , I always jump to help anyone. I mean well but I see I shouldnt try to help anyone else in the Onondaga area When It confuses me so much. I've done very well as an amateur on all my other surnames,But this one is my toughest . I found my Roscoes in the 1930 census in Syracuse but that had Just their name and birth In Canada, Then His wifes Parents "Cousino" In 1925 Marcellus. I wish the Onondaga Gen/Web had more newspapers and obituaries like the Oneida County Gen/ Web Some how, some where I got the idea that Marcellus might of been part of Onondaga County,Or Syracuse Ny I apologize to all for any good intended interruptions I've made. My Family tree is nearly complete I'm just lacking the Roscoe/Racicot and Cousino branches. would you happen to know who I could hire to connect these surnames from The syracuse time frame to 1930 back to Cheneville Canada 1887 ? I can get the rest from there. It is this time period I dont have when the family is using both names And I cant pick out my Family from the others. Thanks again Rick , Connie http://community.webtv.net/cryingkate1/WatsonRoscoeFamily

    3. Connie, I grew up in Camillus and have since moved away. Even now when I tell someone where I grew up I will say Syracuse, NY. Perhaps that is what people said about Marcellus even years ago if they were talking to people not from the region. 3. Hi Bill, I had a few minutes to spare so I did a little searching but this was all I could find One of the more unusual happenings in our town occurred in 1930. Henry Mason, a young man residing on Vienna Street, built a Heath Parasoal airplane. With a wing span of 25 feet, an 8 gallon fuel tank and a lift capacity of 350 pounds, it was capable of a flight of several hundred miles. By 1937, Henry was operating a flying service reported to be the only one between Syracuse and Rochester. On August 24, 1956, at age 49, this pioneer aviator died and is buried in the Palmyra cemetery. http://www.palmyrany.com/archive/history.htm Best Regards, Mike -----Original Message----- From: nyononda-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nyononda-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Bill5308@aol.com Sent: Tuesday, April 03, 2007 2:11 PM To: NYS-LGH@UNIX10.NYSED.GOV; NYHIST-L@listserv.nysed.gov; NYONONDA-L@rootsweb.com; NYS-LGH@listserv.nysed.gov Subject: [NYONONDA] Air Photos by the "Mason Flying Service" I have been looking for air photos taken by photographers from airplanes in the Central New York region. 3. Cornell University has a good series of 1938 and later aerial photos for some parts of central New York at http://aerial-ny.library.cornell.edu:6779/ny/index.cfm They might posibly have the other ones you want but they are not yet online. You could check with a librarian there. The full set of the 1938? (possibly 1935 from memory) aerial photos of Onondaga County are downstairs in the County Clerk's Archives. They used to be in a large wooden box right near the inner door and there was a large map key to the whole set mounted on a piece of cardboard. 2. Hello I know I sent this information previously and if the Special Collections Dept are contacted it should clear this problem up. Go to the Onondaga Main Public Library URL below http://www.onlib.org/website/LH/lh.htm Click on Ask a Librarian. Then type a request for them to check the City and County Directories and Also the City and Marcellus Telephone Directories for the necessary period. 5 Years prior and 5 Years after would cover a 10 year span and give you an accurate idea where they lived in that 10 years period. But you need to send a request clearly stating this. Good Luck Pat R

    3. I greatly appreciate the responses.... Truly. Does anyone have a 1949 city directory with which they can look up Frank and Laura Rowe for me? Question: how do you feel abt snipping or removing previous responses from the current response? The issue is - how many times do responses need to be stored on the internet in perpetuity? I feel I should snip them when responding esp. if they are not related to the 'question'. But I am not certain. -----Original Message----- From: Diane Sweeney Groman [mailto:mayogirl14@hotmail.com] April 02, 2007 4:12 PM To: nyononda@rootsweb.com Subject: Jackson St 1952 have a city dir for Syr for 1952- there was a Jackson st. 3. That Jackson Cemetery is in the middle of a farm field near the Nortwest corner of Route 20 and SE Townline Road. That road has always been known as Townline Rd. It is immediately adjacent to the Town of Onondaga. You can see it in an aerial view by going to google maps, put in "Navarino, NY" and then go to the intersection as above. It is that grove of trees in the middle of the field North of the farm on Route 20. I have crawled all around that cemetery several times, it is in deplorable condition and you have to ask for permission to trespass. Dick Hillenbrand.
