    1. Re: [NYONONDA] Where is probate office
    2. Looking at the website that Mary included in her posting, there is an 'ONLINE RECORD SEARCH' option listed on the left side. Do this before sending any requests by mail. _https://www.courts.state.ny.us/courts/5jd/onondaga/surrogate/contact.shtml_ (https://www.courts.state.ny.us/courts/5jd/onondaga/surrogate/contact.shtml) You will have to configure your Firewall to allow the 'PUBLIC' part and after you 'REGISTER' & 'DOWNLOAD' the the thing they have there, you get a new web address to use for their website., Then you (hopefully) will be able to search and print out (hopefully) what you are looking for. (Key word from me is HOPEFULLY. I used to be able to access their records from home, but have not been able to for quite a while, even with instructions that they have given to me.... ;-( This is still a work in progress, not all of their records are online yet. I do hope I didn't confuse you. Reconfigure your security stuff to allow the website to run, then they will send you a second website address to go to after you have registered and downloaded their program to your computer that will allow you to search the records that they have put online currently. (A computer literate person will be able to explain all of this better than I can!) And as Dick stated in his posting... check the Mormon Church records (_www.familysearch.org_ (http://www.familysearch.org) ) for Microfilmed Records. That also will be much less expensive than sending the request to them by mail. Good luck Anne ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

    3. Anne, I think you're right about that. I'm pretty sure those records are in the older part of the court house that faces Montgomery Street; the newer part of the court house where trials are held (and where jurors have to report...) is across State Street from the old court house building. Here's the contact info: <https://www.courts.state.ny.us/courts/5jd/onondaga/surrogate/contact.shtml> Those folks sure do need to update their website. They mention the Hotel Syracuse Parking Garage as alternate parking if the Oncenter garage is full; I've parked across the street from the Hotel Syracuse parking since March 2005, and I don't recall it ever being open to parking during that time. They have been working on it however, for certainly at least a year if not longer. I've tried using their Online search this evening, but it keeps crashing Firefox.... -- Mary MuskratBay@aol.com wrote: > The NYS Surrogate Court is in the Onondaga County Court House building... > second floor. 1. [NYONONDA] COSTELLO Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Maggie COSTELLO which was taken at the M. E. Curtis Studio in Syracuse, New York. The photograph appears to have been taken sometime in the 1880's with Maggie appearing to be in her 20's at the time. I am hoping to be able to return the photograph to family and would appreciate your contacting me if you are a member of this COSTELLO Family, or if you know someone who might be. Thanks, Shelley
