    1. [NYONONDA] Manlius Marriage info
    2. Lauren, If you know the religious affiliation of either party, I would look for a church that may have been active in 1828 and see if the surviving records make note of the marriage. Also any surviving books kept by ministers who were active in the area at the time may hold information. I would also check with the Manlius Historical Society and see if they can provide any help with this. 3. I am not sure of the origins of "Chestnut Ridge," but the medical center formerly known as, and commonly called, Chestnut Ridge is located on the east side Willet Parkway in Radisson about 1/2 mile north of Route 31 in the Town of Lysander. It is outside the Baldwinsville Village limits. 3. I am researching Almeron Benson b. July 3, 1812, in, I believe, Fabius, Onondaga County, NY. Most of my research has centered around Sauk County, and Morrow (Delaware) County where he lived most of his adult years. I am now interested in the time he lived in NY. I believe he is the son of Daniel Benson and Electra Haskins. Is anyone researching this family? I would love to share what I have thus far. Where can I get birth Documentation? 2. Liz, It might be more fruitful to follow the paper trail in Constantia, Oswego county and see if his enlistment papers are there. There is also a possibility that he received bounty money for enlisting and records maybe found at the county level. I would start with the town clerk in Constantia and work my way forward from there. I found ten George W John son's who served from NY had a residence in NY and survived the war, so there are many suspects to check. (Civilwardata.com, a subscription based business) Sometimes these people enlisted where friends or family members did, so I would also look for information in those places. A second obit may have been printed in an Oswego county newspaper since he was from there originally. Hope this helps. I picked him out as the one a while ago, and it was not him. So now I have a Civil War Pension on someone it wasn't. Take care, and thanks a lot. I appreciate the help. 3. Hi Ms. Sammons, I was wondering what the best way would be to get the obituary. I have all the rest of the information that you mention. Is there some way I can get it on line, or do I need to have someone who can go there get it for me? Thanks for your help. Johnson. In the 1869-1870 Syracuse city directory there is a Johnson, George W. living at 119 Warren St. In the Oakwood Cemetery Records, held by the Onondaga County Public Library, there is a Johnson, George W. b 8-11-1839 in Constantia NY, died 2-24-1870 Syracuse NY. He's buried in section 22, lot 169. I also looked in the 1865 Town Clerk's census of Civil War Soldiers (also available at the library!) I cannot find him. In 1865 NYS census he's there living in ward 5 but I cannot find a similar listing in the town clerk census of civ war soldiers! The library also has a list of Civil War Soldiers from Onondaga County and there is a listing for George Johnson and it says he served in the Heavy Artillery, co 14. But there is a question mark after that. This group was organized in Rochester in 1863 and there is a George Johnson listed with them, he went in as a private however! I hope this is some help. Don't forget your librarians when you have these questions. The Onondaga County Public Library has an incredible genealogy/history collection. And while there is a lot to be found online, there's even more in your libraries. Holly Sammons, Librarian Local History/Genealogy Onondaga County Public Library 447 So.
