Madeline, My website (not hosted locally to me) suffered a data loss and I haven't had enough time to recover/reload the lost White Chapel info. I have linked a PDF Interment Listing index for now. Direct URLs are: White Chapel index - http://nortonresearch.com/gen/WhiteChapel.pdf Oakwood Index - http://nortonresearch.com/gen/Oakwood.pdf If you contact Oakwood Cemeteries directly by phone at 315-475-2194 or write to them at 940 Comstock Ave Syracuse, NY 13210 They may be able to provide you with more data. If you include the White Chapel interment number #2751, that will also help them. I spoke with Judy at the Oakwood offices last week when I was there. She would most likely be the one to do the research. Hope this helps Thanks Eric -----Original Message----- From: nyononda-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nyononda-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Madeline Millard Sent: Saturday, January 05, 2008 3:15 PM To: nyononda@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NYONONDA] Arthur Carl Willbrand Thank you for your message. I just went to the Oakwood Cemetery site on "Onondaga County Cemeteries" and was instructed to visit the Onondaga County Public Library until the records could be put online. This was dated 1999. While I would love to revisit Syracuse in person, I'm a couple of thousand miles too far away. Back in February, I was able to find many of my records on the www.nortonresearch.com site, but now the White Chapel page no longer lists Arthur Willbrand, so I went on to the various Oakwood sites, all of which sent me to a page that tells me I am using an "html tag" that forbids me to use that page which, by the way, seems to have nothing to do with Norton Research or cemeteries. It's a shame to have lost such a great resource. Makes one wonder what happened to all that information and someone's hard work. I can shed some light on the Oakwood Morningside & White Chapel Cemetery Records that were on NortonResearch, according to a message I had received a while ago.. The OCPL wouldn't allow NortonResearch to have those records online. Eventually they may put them online, but currently they are only able to be used inside the OCPL Library (not 100% sure if its only in the Local History Room or any of the City Branches, so inquire before going). The Local History Genealogy Dept was able to microfilm all of the Oakwood Books, so more information can be looked at that just the print-out of burials that I used to use in the Library. Arthur died Sept. 29, 1970 and his obit was published in the Post Standard on Sept. 30, 1970 pg 15. Hope that helps. Anne In a message dated 1/5/2008 3:23:24 P.M. Hi Richard, Thanks so much for the contact. I do not know the answer to your question, but will try to find out and let you know. My hunch is that it would sort of be like Ford and Chevy sharing their customer base. I doubt it. Maybe someday in the future. I'll see what I can find out for you. Hi Dick, Thanks for the reply, no problem, you have my permission, I'm sure the responses will be very interesting. My thought is, there should be some sort of regulation that all genealogy DNA has to be shared in a common data bank. Dick Hillenbrand I enjoyed your article on DNA; Ive been a member of the Family Tree DNA program for a few years. I have yet to make an exact match on 37 markers. Your observation, The more testing that gets done, the better the database results will be, for ever more presents a question that has come to mind many times.
