    1. Seeking Parents of Geo.W. Elliott & Jane E. McKevitt 1850 Onondaga Co.
    2. Bob Elliott
    3. I am researching the origins of my family in Onondaga Co. NY. My earliest infomation is from an old family Bible recording that my great-great grandfather, George W. Elliott married Jane E. McKevitt (McKibbett?) in Baldwinsville,NY on the 4th of July in 1853. I was delighted to recently find a reference to the announcement of this marrige in the 7/15/1853 issue of the Skaneateles Democrat/Press in the Skaneateles Historical Society webpage( http://skaneateles.com/genealogy.html )database of old newspaper records, although Jane was listed as McKibbett rather than the McKevitt that our family bible shows. I also found reference to five other Elliott marriges or deaths listed in that database between 1846 and 1889 and wonder if any are closely related. I would appreciate any infomation on who the parents and/or siblings of George and Jane were and where they lived. Thanks, Bob Elliott

    3. In 1832 Liverpool had an epidemic of Asiatic cholera, people got sick and died within hours. Often several in the same family. Reference: "The Village of Liverpool, 150 Years", 1980, liverpool Historical Society, p 140. I scanned the entire book and could not find any references to Whitmore. Try writing the Historical Society at 2nd Street, Liverpool, NY 13088. Good Luck, Dick Fox Liverpool, NY

There was a tax on most brewers, and the premises had inspectors. If all else fails, It may be you can obtain a list of these premises from the National ARchieves, and cross references the addresses with pictures at the historical society (although, I'll wager the Brewmaster is listed on the license, as it was after 1900). Another avenue is to get ahold of the old state Brewers' Association records. They will probably have all kinds of stuff on your ancestor..Brewmasters from Germany, was a prized possession; and an owner-brewer from Germany could do quite well for himself. They generally had a license in Germany, as well as a very strict training process. Brewer's have some of the best records..taxed to death, regulated to death, leaving a long long paper trail for us genealogy researchers. Happy Hunting Barbara

    3. My ancestor, G. Adam Wurster came to Syracuse late 1800's from Germany and was a brewmaster. He died in 1900. I have a picture of him with his coworkers from 1894. I am trying to attempt to identify the brewey. The picture(8 by 10) is very faded and the sign of the brewey is very hard to read. It does read "Ales and Porter" at the bottom of the sign. None of the other people are identified. I would guess that the brewey was in East Syracuse or downtown. Thanks Faith

    3. Hi, I have been patiently trying to locate the graves of my ancestors, Jane Ann (Clark) and Joseph Brayton WHEELOCK. I have searched every searchable database of cemeteries online for Onondaga County and also visited Oakwood and Woodlawn but have not located them. Joseph was a Civil War vet and remarried after Jane's death to an Elizabeth(can't find her grave either). NYS has no record of either Joseph's or Jane Ann's death. I have Joseph's Civil War pension record but again no mention of burial place. They resided on Richardson Street in the CityHis parents are buried in Mannsville< NY and he's not there either. Any ideas? Thanks Faith
