June 10, 1834) on June 6, 1853 in Centerville, Clay township, Onandaga Co, N.Y. by a justice of the peace. I have a lead on some Goodfellows, but can find nothing on any Nelsons living there around that time. Any help out there with either family?

According to a deceased aunt, at least one of my ARNOLD ancestors may have been born in Tully, Onondaga, NY. I find them in Cortland Co. for several years. I know that Cortland Co. is next to Onondaga Co., and in fact, Cortland Co. was formed from Onondaga Co. Here is what I have on them: Abram W. ARNOLD, born circa 1805 in Rhode Island, married Prudence HOWE on 20 Mar 1835 in Preble, Cortland Co., NY. Abram died 8 Jun 1889 in Jefferson Township, Cass Co., MI. Prudence was born circa 1817 in New York and died 28 Apr 1874 in Jefferson Township, Cass Co., MI. Their children were: Edwin John ARNOLD, born 30 Jun 1836 in New York (may have been Tully, Onondaga Co.), married Carolyn Julia BROWN on 13 Sep 1863 in Edwardsburg, Cass Co., MI, died 25 Jun 1910 in Lansing, Ingham Co., MI; Franklin Leroy ARNOLD, born 1 Feb 1838 in New York, died 30 Sep 1865 in Memphis, TN; and Uriah ARNOLD, born 13 Aug 1840 in Truxton, Cortland Co., NY, married Phebe A. ALEXANDER on 30 Apr 1873 in Niles, Berrien Co., MI, died 18 Dec 1924 in Jefferson, Cass Co., MI. Abram ARNOLD and his family is found living in Truxton, Cortland Co., NY in the 1840 U.S. census. I'm searching for the parents of Joseph C. Barnes born July 15, 1827 in Pompey, NY. It appears his mother's name was Lois and she was born about 1888. Joseph has at least one brother, Peter Barnes born about 1818. I find Peter in the 1840 McKean Co., PA census and by 1850 Joseph and Lois are living next door. Joseph marries Mary Rosamond Warner daughter of Dr. George Trowbridge Warner in December of 1850. Any assistance would be appreciated. I have hit brick wall with this line. What little information I have comes from Joseph Barnes Family Bible. Thank you, Linda Gatewood

Hi! Could some kind soul here find an obituary for Louise LAWRENCE, who died in Syracuse in October 1993 (I don't have the exact date), or tell me how I could go about getting one for myself? If I'm correct (and I'm pretty sure I am <g>) she was my father's cousin, born in New Jersey on 14 Dec 1910. Her Grandfather, Dr Paul Luck of Passaic, NJ, had a falling out with the rest of the family and noone has had contact with them since before WW II. I know from Louise's brother's obituary that she had three sons and one daughter. I sure would like to track them down. Searching for information on Mahlon Dickerson's first wife. His parents apparently moved to NY after Mahlon's birth in 1815 in NJ. Than Mahlon moved to LaSalle Co., IL where he married his second wife. Mahlon writes about "old friends" in his journal dated Nov. 23-28, 1870 which he spent Thanksgiving with in Fayetteville, NY: H. Eaton, Orson Smith, G. Cole, and C. Snook. I am hoping one of these surnames might give a clue to his first wife. I am also searching for information on his parents: David Dickerson b. 1772 and Rachel Rourke b. 1784. Mahlon died in 1876 so I could not find out his parents birthplaces on the 1880 census. I also do not know any of Mahlon's siblings. Thank you Alyson Crippen agc@sofnet.com
Before you shell out LOTS of money for books from NEHGS, make sure you check other booksellers. I got the Brown Genealogy for 30 dollars as opposed to 180 dollars from NEGSC! Granted I only got the book containing the Eleazer Brown and 2 other brothers, but the book was over 600 pages. I didn't need the other and I can't imagine that it should be 150 dollars for the other lines. But...maybe! Shop around before you buy books! Bev Crim
