I'm searching for infomation about Thomas Babcock, and his connection to Lydia (Rice/Royce) Owen. Lydia was the widow of Daniel Owen who d. in Spafford in 1826. On the 1840 pensioner's census she is listed living with Thomas Babcock. She is 81 yrs old. She was from the Ashford, CT area as was her husband Daniel Owen. There are several daughters whose marriages are unknown. Could one of them have married Thomas Babcock? The known, but unidentified daus. are: Saby b. 1784; Sybil b. 1789; and Sarah/Sally b. 1800 who is known to be married by 1843 to William Eldridge, but nothing is known before 1843. The other known and identified children are: Daniel b. 1780; Timothy b. 1781; Jonathan Rice Owen b. 1796, m. Hannah Whaley; and Chloe b. abt. 1785, m. Elijah Hall.
I am seeking any information or decendants of Patrick Sullivan. He is on the Syracuse census of 1900 listed with his wife Maude, living in the household of his father-in-law, William SNYDER. Patrick is listed in the 1025 Syracuse city directory as the manager of the E W Edwards and Son which I believe to be a Men's furnishing goods store. any help would be appreciated. Mary Kay

Hi listers; According to the 1918 City directory David C. Dodge lived at 1000 Cumberland, it lists his occupation as a farmer. I hope this helps. Did Davis Curtis Dodge own the property? I know in my areas the post office has re-numbered streets to suit its own ends. Only the recorded deeds would give a description of the lot without referring to a changeable street number. Good luck. Jeff ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary D. Hello Listers, I am fairly new to Onondga county research. Recently I was using the county Gen Web site, when I found a reference to something called "Tavern Tales". The index to this book is included in the Gen Web site. There are several enteries for the Foster family that I am researching. I have tried to find this book on the internet...I don't believe it is held by the Onondoga county library system, and even a google search turned up nothing appropriate. I know this is an imposition, but is there anyone who could do a lookup for me in this book. ?? I sure would appreciate the help. Thanks, Marc Rhinehart Marc Rhinehart [email protected] Why Wait? All good suggestions for Diane, but I don't see this park listed among the city parks on the Syracuse city parks webpage, so I don't know how much info the Parks/Recreation department might have. There is a "Sherman Park Association" consisting of people who live in the area: <http://govt-comm.syr.edu/community/shermanpark.htm> The page listed above provides the name of the president of the association; he would be a good one to contact as he lives in the 1000 block of Cumberland Ave. Another potentially good source would be the Onondaga Historical Association. -- Mary Taffet On Tue, 1 Feb 2005 [email protected] wrote: > Hi > > The Records at the Syracuse Parks Dept should be able to give you a date or > Approx date that the City took over the land. Hi The Records at the Syracuse Parks Dept should be able to give you a date or Approx date that the City took over the land. A letter to them might be a good place to start. Old City Directories would no doubt give the Address up to the point is was no longer there. The Special Collections Room at the Galleries Library has these directories. Also a trip to check the Tax Records and/or Land Records for the City of Syracuse would also show when 1000 Cumberland Ave was torn down or sold to the City (I would assume since it is a City Park). If your Ancestor lived there until his death in the 1920's that would be the date to start your search and since someone knows it was a Park in the 1980's it would of been sometime in between. Another source might be the Newspaper Archives that would make mention of a new Park being developed. It the Owner who died in 1920's left a Will that might also indicate who was left the property after his death. Several Sources to check.

It worked for me and I'm glad. It seems it may be a benefit... can't imagine why it failed for you. Check your browser settings, I guess... Do you have enough memory? do you have a memory flusher? Sometimes my memory isn't 'refreshed'. When that happens things like going to the next page - don't happen. Then I flush the memory. The minute I click the button to start the process, the next page 'appears'. I use 'Free Mem' to flush memory. In the future it would be helpful to change the subject line to one that applies to your the issue needing assistance.
