Is anybody else on this list descended from Jared Olcott, who was born in Hartford County, Connecticut, in 1759 and moved at some point (evidently circa 1800) to Oneida County (living in the Town of Lee at least some of the time) and later to Jefferson County, where he died in the 1840s? He was one of my gggg-grandfathers; I descend through his daughter Polly Olcott, who married Lyman Matthews of Camden; then through their daughter Delia Matthews, who married Leonard Budd (my brickwall Budd--still can't find his origins) in 1828 and had four sons. Their son William George Budd (b. 1832) was my great-grandfather. Jared (who also had a son named Jared among his numerous children) apparently was first married to a Mary Cadwell (probably not Caldwell, though I've seen that also) and served in the Revolution (and maybe also the War of 1812). Might anybody have details about his service other than what is readily findable on the Web? Information on the Olcotts (and Cadwells/Caldwells) going on back? I understand that there was some spurious genealogy work done on the Olcott family back in the 19th century, so it's hard to know what to believe. Jared Sr. was one of many children, and he likewise had many children, so theoretically there should be lots of Olcott descendants out there. Thanks for any info or connections!
