The Rome State School is located just outside the City of Rome on Turin Road. Coming from the Thruway you will find it just prior to entering the City of Rome on the Right side of 365. It has been in in existence since 1875 and is 128 years old. It is a school for the Deaf and they have always had an excellent reputation for educating the deaf. When I lived in upstate NY this school participated in Sports (baseball, basketball etc) with some of the smaller High schools (that existed in the 50's) and had some great sports teams. They were not a part of any particular league, but it was a scheduled game for many of the high schools in the area. Remarkable what they accomplished.
