    1. Re: [NYONEIDA-L] what was Rome State School?
    2. Hi The Rome State School is located just outside the City of Rome on Turin Road. Coming from the Thruway you will find it just prior to entering the City of Rome on the Right side of 365. It has been in in existence since 1875 and is 128 years old. It is a school for the Deaf and they have always had an excellent reputation for educating the deaf. When I lived in upstate NY this school participated in Sports (baseball, basketball etc) with some of the smaller High schools (that existed in the 50's) and had some great sports teams. They were not a part of any particular league, but it was a scheduled game for many of the high schools in the area. Remarkable what they accomplished. Regards Pat R

    3. Pat, You are thinking of the NY state school for the Deaf. Not the one they are talking about that is on the corner of Rte 365 and Rt 26. It was the Rome State School, which Jack B. decribed very well.
